About

Bridging Research and Reality for a Better Public Health

I am a Health Scientist with experience in both the private and public sectors. My public service has included working at every level of government in the US including the local, county, state, and federal levels. I have previously been with PwC, the South Carolina Department of Public Health, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). To meet the needs of the public and my clients, I have eclectic research interests with specific expertise in tobacco control and prevention, addiction science, public health law, and public health ethics.

I received my PhD in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior from the University of South Carolina's Arnold School of Public Health. I also received my Master of Science in Environmental Health Science from the Arnold School and my Bachelor of Science in Public Health (with an emphasis in Environmental and Occupational Health) from Brigham Young University. Additionally, I was trained in clinical trial management as a postdoctoral researcher at the Medical University of South Carolina. I am a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN).

I'm concerned with improving the health of all people by advocating for ethically informed public health policy. I love my family, my faith, and helping people live longer and better.
